Pope Leo XIV sent a telegram to Italian President Sergio Mattarella on the occasion of his 85th birthday, thanking him for the "constant attention" with which he accompanies the ecclesial and social life of Italy. The Pope entrusted the President to the protection of the patron saints of Italy, St. Francis of Assisi and St. Catherine of Siena, imparting the apostolic blessing to his family, collaborators and to "dear Italy".
