🙏 Angelus
Recitation of the Angelus
📍 Piazza della Libertà, Castel Gandolfo
Pope Leo XIV recites the Sunday Angelus from the Apostolic Palace of Castel Gandolfo, on the occasion of the 6th World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, the liturgical memorial of Saints Joachim and Anne, parents of the Virgin Mary. In his message for the Day, themed "I will never forget you" (Is 49:15), the Pope especially invites young people to resume the beautiful habit of visiting grandparents and the elderly, especially those who are most alone, bringing them the Pope's closeness and affection. In the catechesis preceding the Marian prayer, commenting on the Gospel parables of the hidden treasure and the precious pearl, the Pope warns against the consumer industry that continually generates new needs without satisfying the heart, and invites the faithful to recognize in the Kingdom of God the true treasure that gives breathing room and breadth to life. He offers a special thought for participants in the Peach Festival of Castel Gandolfo, who brought the fruits of their land for the Pope's blessing.
