Audience with artists and curators of the meeting «The Art of Possibility: Weaving Together»
📍 Hall of the Consistory, Apostolic Palace, Vatican
In the Hall of the Consistory of the Apostolic Palace, Pope Leo XIV receives some thirty artists and curators — including representatives of the Venice Art and Architecture Biennales, the Reconciliation initiative and the Observatory for the Church and Contemporary Visual Cultures — on the occasion of the meeting «The Art of Possibility: Weaving Together», promoted by the Dicastery for Culture and Education. The Pope thanks them for their collaboration with the Holy See, particularly for the Vatican Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, recalling the one set up in the women's prison on the island of Giudecca and visited by Pope Francis. Citing Saint Augustine and this year's motto «The Ear is the Eye of the Soul», he describes authentic art as animated by the restlessness of the human heart in search of truth, and a «fundamental place of listening» for the Church regarding humanity's aspirations and wounds. In the age of search engines and artificial intelligence, he states that the great danger is no longer only censorship but «homogenization», and that there is an «ontological difference» between art and what machines generate through statistical calculation, because «algorithms lack the spark of the human». Quoting Saint Paul VI («We need you»), he renews the call for an alliance between the Church, artists and cultural institutions «to safeguard what is human».

Press conference presenting the meeting «Ten years after Amoris laetitia»
📍 Holy See Press Office
On Friday Pope Leo XIV has no public audiences or liturgical celebrations scheduled: the calendar of celebrations presided over by the Holy Father has no appointments for the day, and the Pontiff continues the ordinary governance of the Church in the offices of the Roman Curia. The day's public appointment is held at the Holy See Press Office, where at 11:30 a press conference presents the meeting «Ten years after Amoris laetitia: proclaiming the Gospel with families today». The initiative, promoted by Pope Leo XIV with the Heads of the Eastern Churches and the Presidents of the Episcopal Conferences, will take place in the Paul VI Audience Hall from 7 to 14 October 2026, with the participation of families from various parts of the world, and will conclude on 14 October with the Holy Mass presided over by the Pope in St Peter's Square at 10:00. The press conference outlines the programme of the meeting, the objectives of the gathering on the tenth anniversary of Pope Francis's post-synodal Apostolic Exhortation «Amoris laetitia», and the arrangements for journalists to take part, in person or remotely with online accreditation. Speakers include Prof. Gabriella Gambino, Undersecretary of the Dicastery for the Laity, the Family and Life and coordinator of the participating families, Prof. Orietta Rachele Grazioli, lecturer at the Pontifical John Paul II Theological Institute and deputy coordinator of the experts, and Fr Giacomo Costa, S.J., consultor of the General Secretariat of the Synod, responsible for the meeting's methodology.
