Audience with Korean priests and religious residing in Rome
📍 Clementine Hall, Apostolic Palace, Vatican City
In the Clementine Hall, Pope Leo XIV receives about 170 Korean priests, religious sisters and religious residing in Rome, accompanied by Cardinal Lazarus You Heung-sik, many of them involved in preparing World Youth Day Seoul 2027. The event also marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of the inauguration of the Pontifical Korean College's headquarters. The Pope calls on them to be "custodians of memory" of the martyrs who founded the Church in Korea, "witnesses of hope" for the young people of WYD 2027, and "artisans of peace" in a still painfully divided peninsula, recalling in particular Venerable Thomas Choe Yang-eop, the "martyr of sweat".

Pope Leo XIV writes a message to Fr. Gabriel Romanelli, parish priest of the Holy Family Church in Gaza, following the Israeli airstrike that on October 3 hit a residential building in Gaza City's Rimal neighborhood, killing five civilians, including the Greek Orthodox Christians Maysa Khader Ibrahim Abu Daoud and her daughter Mary Hafez Michel Najjar. The Pope writes: "Good morning, Father Gabriel. Since learning the painful news of the deaths of Maysa and Mary, I have been praying to God for them, for their families and for the entire community of Gaza. How long, O Lord? Thank you for your closeness to the parish and to all those seeking peace. Blessings, an affectionate embrace."
