Pope Leo XIV lands at the Rimini Fairgrounds at 2:45 PM, welcomed by around 100,000 people along the route, 55,000 of them inside the fairgrounds. He visits the exhibition on Saint Augustine and the one on Léon Harmel, greets the young people gathered at the Youth Village, then speaks in the Grand Auditorium of the 47th Meeting for Friendship Among Peoples, organized by the Fraternity of Communion and Liberation, before around 20,000 people in the hall and another 20,000 in the connected halls with big screens. The 2026 Meeting is dedicated to the theme "The love that moves the sun and the other stars." In his address the Pope points to love as the method of redemption, opposed to the "false realism" that arms minds and nations, and calls on those present to take responsibility for purifying culture of arrogance and work of the "idolatry of profit," unmasking the unjust power relations at the root of poverty and conflict; he also urges young people to get involved and open themselves to universal catholicity. This is only the second time in the 47-year history of the Meeting that a Pontiff has made an official visit to Rimini, following that of John Paul II 44 years earlier.
