Apart from the audience with the new bishops, the Thursday after the General Audience has no further public appointments or liturgical celebrations: the calendar released by the Office for the Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff for September and October 2026 lists no engagements for the day. The Pope continues his ordinary work of governing the Church in the offices of the Roman Curia, with the customary private audiences for prelates, heads of Dicasteries and bishops on their 'ad limina' visits. The next public appointment on the agenda is the Angelus on Sunday 13 September; it will be followed, on Monday 14 September, on his 71st birthday, by the visit to the Vatican Apostolic Library for the opening of the 'AQVA' exhibition, and on Wednesday 16 September by the audience with participants in the conference on the new martyrs.
