Audience with participants in the 4th «Fratelli tutti» Synodal Meeting
📍 Apostolic Palace, Vatican City
In the morning, at the Apostolic Palace, Pope Leo XIV receives in private audience presidents, general secretaries and senior representatives of trade union confederations, employer chambers, multilateral organizations and Church networks from across the American continent, gathered in Rome for the 4th «Fratelli tutti: North-South socio-environmental dialogue» Synodal Meeting, held from 10 to 12 September 2026 at the General House of the Brothers of the Christian Schools (La Salle). It is the first time this cross-sector dialogue process, launched in 2022 in the wake of the Encyclical «Fratelli tutti», reaches a high-level meeting with the Pontiff at the Vatican. More than forty organizations take part — among them the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), the CSA, the US AFL-CIO, the Canadian Labour Congress, the SEIU, the Landless Rural Workers Movement and the UTEP, together with employer bodies such as the IOE and the US Chamber of Commerce and organizations such as the ILO, the OAS and the IDB — to present to the Pope the conclusions of a journey that seeks to place human dignity, labour and care for the common home at the centre of the international agenda. Themes addressed during the Rome sessions include artificial intelligence and human dignity, socio-environmental formation, community organizing, young people, the energy transition and the protection of territories. The presentation press conference was held on 11 September at the Holy See Press Office with Cardinals Jaime Spengler and Leonardo Steiner, Liz Shuler of the AFL-CIO and Bishop Daniel Flores.

Address to the participants at the meeting «Fratelli tutti: North-South socio-environmental dialogue»

The res novae of our time set in motion a true movement of "reflection and action," which must "be guided with foresight: by institutions capable of regulating without stifling, and protecting without taking over; by businesses that recognize work and dignity as measures of success..."

📋 Daily schedule
In the morning, in the Clementine Hall, Pope Leo XIV receives over one hundred participants in the Symposium of the «Communio Internationalis Benedictinarum» (Cib), the body that every four years brings together representatives of the Benedictine monastic world (with some monks also present) from around the globe. The Pope addresses those present in English, recalling that the Cib has for twenty-five years continued the path of communion and coordination initiated by Pope Leo XIII for the Benedictine Confederation and encouraged by the Second Vatican Council in the decree «Perfectae Caritatis». Recalling his recent pilgrimage to the monasteries of Subiaco and Montecassino, Leo XIV underlines that the effort of the monks and nuns to be «ever more deeply rooted in Christ» and his «living and praying witness throughout the earth» represents «a great sign and a prophetic gift», especially needed in a time marked by a thirst for authentic life, communion and peace. The Pontiff also praises the Cib's project to offer, in Rome and elsewhere through digital tools, new formation opportunities dedicated to Benedictine nuns.

Ordinary governance activity in the Roman Curia
📍 Apostolic Palace, Vatican City
On Saturday Pope Leo XIV has no public liturgical celebrations scheduled. Besides the audiences with the participants in the «Fratelli tutti» Synodal Meeting and the Symposium of the Communio Internationalis Benedictinarum, the Pontiff continues the ordinary governance of the Church, with the customary private audiences for prelates and heads of Dicasteries and the signing of appointments and measures released by the Press Office Bulletin. Among these, the Bulletin discloses the letter, dated 8 August, by which the Pope appointed Cardinal Mario Grech, Secretary General of the Synod, as his Special Envoy to the celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the canonical erection of the Diocese of Spiš (Slovakia), scheduled for Saturday 26 September at the Cathedral of Saint Martin in Spišská Kapitula; in the letter the Pope asks the Envoy to exhort participants to "keep hope alive, with renewed strength and new enthusiasm." The next public engagement is the Angelus on Sunday 13 September in St. Peter's Square; it will be followed, on Monday 14 September, his 71st birthday, by the visit to the Vatican Apostolic Library for the opening of the «AQVA» exhibition.
