Following reports in local media, the Holy See Press Office confirmed that Leo XIV “sent his ballot by mail to Chicago” for the 3 November midterm elections in the United States. The Chicago-born Pontiff has always exercised his right to vote as a US citizen whenever possible, as he also did during his years in Peru, and “expresses his belief in the right and the duty of citizens to participate in democratic processes”.
